The development of this part of the standard has been approved in December 2025.
This proposal acknowledges that visual design, together with linguistic cues, plays a key role in helping users find and navigate a document’s structure and content. As a result, the document becomes easier to use and understand.
Document 1: Pattern library
This pattern library presents a functional approach to plain language. It doesn’t
just give advice about making documents easy to read, but it considers what
